Gensan Shipyard in SMX Tradeshow 2016

Gensan Shipyard Marketing Team with LED monitor featuring the corporate video we made seen behind them.

We recently met up with long-time client Gensan Shipyard during their successful participation in the 3rd Marine, Shipbuilding and Offshore Philippines 2016 tradeshow at the SMX this June 6-8.

According to Marketing Manager Annie Jonco, this is actually the second time that our clients have they participated in this event, and it has proven to be extremely fruitful for the company in terms of new business, as well making valuable industry contacts. Of course, they were also displaying the video we made for them on an LED screen, and we are happy to report that it is quite effective as well! Congratulations to Gensan Shipyard for a successful tradeshow!

Rewind: The Miners of Compostela Valley

Q2 video team with miners at the steps of what used to be an abandoned open pit mine. Over the years, a young forest had grown over the mine, which can be seen at the background of this shot.

REWIND: I found this video clip on our vimeo page recently because it has apparently received the most views of all the videos we have done. I decided to post it here because it had an interesting story.

Back in 2010, an Australian client asked us to shoot footage of a mining operation they had acquired in Compostela Valley, in Southern Mindanao. At the time, this was one of our first shoots on location using our Lumix camera system at 24P. Months later,we edited the footage we shot in order to put a story to the video, posted it on vimeo, and promptly forget about it.

Things took a turn for worse in recent years, however. Fire fights between insurgents and government troops in this area had turned it into a war zone with all mining operations suspended, making me wonder what happened to all the good folk we met on the way. One thing for sure – that forest we shot that had grown over the open-pit mine (seen at the video’s end) is probably still there and undisturbed since all mining had to a stop!

Recent: Outsourced Corporate AVP

May 30, 2016   //   by RandyQ   //   Blog  //  No Comments

Recent: A couple of months ago, we received a call from an old client of ours – Mike Larcher of Outsourced – an Australian BPO based in Eastwood City, Libis. We had produced a corporate profile video for Outsourced a few years ago, and this time Mike wanted to update the video we produced for them with shots of the new office and staff. Just like before, Mike didn’t want to spend too much on the video, so everything had to be done very quickly and economically. As a result, Mike was going to write the script, do the voiceover, and appear in the video at the same time!

The big surprise to everyone is that although the videos we make for Mike Larcher are not big budget productions, they are actually quite nice. We like to show them to clients as an example of what can be done at very low cost! So we at Q2 Digital Studio were quite excited to produce something new for Outsourced.

Like many video shoots we have done for off-shore BPO companies, scheduling was going to be tough since entire areas of the office would be empty at various times of the day. We ended up shooting at 6Am and wrapping up at lunch time (we only shot for half a day due to budget reasons).

One thing we did differently this time is that we were using a new teleprompter system that helped Mike to deliver his lines very, very quickly because he didn’t have to memorize his lines anymore! This system enabled us to finish shooting everything in a few hours.

We eventually delivered the finished video in less than a week’s time, and Mike promptly put it to good use by posting it on their company website. A video done very fast, at low cost, and quite nice – needless to say, everyone is happy!

A New Blog and First Post in 2016

Jan 4, 2016   //   by RandyQ   //   Blog  //  No Comments

Welcome 2016! With the new year comes a new blog for Q2 Digital Studio, where we feature news on our company and the projects we do, so please check us out from time to time to see how we can help you with your video projects!

Like many years before, 2015 was quite a busy one. We did many location shoots that took us overseas as well as all over the Philippines. We did corporate videos for a semiconductor company in Laguna, a fast-growing conglomerate in General Santos, and the launch of a major new facility for a BPO in Bonifacio Global City. All of this work would not have been possible without the hard work of our production teams, so a big thanks to all the people who worked with us and helped make all this possible!

Some projects we did in 2015, though, are more significant than others and are worth mentioning.

Q2 Digital Studio production team on-location in Flores island, Indonesia for the Partners for Resillience project.

One of these is a video project we finished for a Netherlands-based umbrella organization that brought together five major NGOs with the objective to boost resilience among communities in the Philippines and Indonesia . We began work on this project in 2014. Some of our shooting locations were Benguet, Surigao, Timur, and Flores island. In these shoots, we had a chance to see first hand the hard work and dedication of NGO teams to help build resilience among remote communities in these areas . We made many good friends in both the Philippines and Indonesia, and everybody on the team was changed after witnessing the work being done in these communities first hand!

Another of these video projects is a second video we did on a power plant in Saraggani that came on stream late in 2015. The first video we made of this power plant was back in 2014, which was the first time many investors and stakeholders in the project had a chance to see the plant actually being constructed! Today, the plant has come on stream and is on its way to help alleviate the power shortage in Mindanao.

And finally, we had a chance to shoot a video for my old friends, the Luen Thai Group – a company I have had a chance of working with since 1999. This video production took our team to shoot footage of apparel and fabric manufacturing facilities in Cambodia and Vietnam, Retail operations in Shanghai, and a massive real estate project in Qing Yuan. It was quite enjoyable to reunite with old friends and see how far Luen Thai has progressed through the years!

One last thing worth mentioning is that in late 2015 we decided to change the way we produce videos. Our focus remains the same: to provide quality corporate video production for industry and manufacturing at competitive prices. But in 2016, we will providing many other services that had previously been costed extra as in integral part of our shooting style (more on this exciting topic later).

At the end of the day, all of this it to keep our company better focused on our mission: to deliver better corporate videos at the best price!

On behalf of the Q2 Digital Studio Team, I would like to thank all our clients and friends, and we wish everyone a blessed 2016!
